Toponavigator Android can record up to 10,000 waypoints per file. If GPS is activated, waypoints can be captured either at the current GPS position, or in any other place off-GPS fix (at the red cross position). If GPS is not activated, waypoints can be created either by taping on screen, or by converting a trackpoint to waypoint.

On point digitization (GPS is off), the point creation button remains active and you can record many points.

After create a waypoint, the Waypoint Properties form opens. You can change the coordinates and the altitude, select a new symbol and assign to the point a name and a comment. The name is displayed on the screen.

The Waypoint Properties form can help you to project the point to a new location. By changing the coordinates of the point, actually you dictate a new position to this point. Alternatively, you can replace the point to the center of the map. Last, you can also re-center the map to the edited point.

Note that you can move the point directly on the screen, by highlighting it with a long press and sliding it to the new location.

In Toponavigator Extreme, and in the extent of Greece, during point digitalization at the office (on-line), each point elevation will be required from TopoNavigator IMS, and the value will be stored in the database and therefore to KML & GPX files. The elevation value is extracted from a very accurate Digital Terrain Model of Greece (30m cell size).

The symbol chosen for the latter point is considered as the default symbol. The points given one of the three flags (blue, red and green) as symbol, can be searched by name from the Search Engine and set as starting or destination point for routing.

The point name consists of the prefix WPT and an enumerator up to 9999. The text of the name is selected, so if you click in the area of selection the on-screen keyboard will be displayed and by the first character you type, the entire name will be cleared and replaced by your text.

Points are organized in the Point Management table, where the following functions can be found:

A. Batch Processing

  • Make all points visible/invisible
  • Save all points in KML protocol (Google Earth format)
  • Save all points in GPX protocol
  • Delete all points

B. Develop a point

  • Make visible/invisible a point
  • Focus the map on a point
  • Change the symbol and the name of a point (click on the name or symbol)
  • Delete a point
